It consists of a capillary tube with millimetre scale connected via three way tap to a syringe. The cut shoot is connected to the third outlet. A vertical limb on the tube is connected to a thistle funnel by rubber tubing fitted with a spring clip. Mounted on a wooden stand to which the plant shoot can be attached for support.
